THIS TRAIL HAS BEEN PLACED FOR THE 'INTRODUCTION TO GEOCACHING' EVENT ON THE SATURDAY 29TH OF AUGUST 2015.
The reception in this part of the park is poor so if possible please store caches for offline use before traveling to the park. This multi cache has 4 stages all based around the new badger trail at Palacerigg Country Park, the paths are still under construction so wellington boots are recommended and until footpath is complete i would avoid prams in this area of the park. You DO NOT need to leave the the trail so keep to the paths and you will be fine.
From the starting coordinates, look at the nearby notice board. A is the number of people, B is the number of colours in the NL sign, C is the smallest number of letters of the colours, D is the middle number of letters of the colours, and E is the biggest number of letters of the colours. Now proceed to N55/56.(A-B)(DxE) W003/56.(D-A)D(BxC).
Looking at this notice board, F is the number of birds named, G is how many vowels in the longest name, H is how many letters in the smallest name,(one word), and I is how many consonants in the smallest name. Now proceed to N55/56.(G-H)(F-F)(I-I) W003/56.(H-I)(F+3)G.
Now using the sign BADGER TRAIL and converting letters to numbers A=1, B=2 etc, J is the 2nd letter - the 9th letter, K is the 10th letter, L is the 4th letter + the 2nd letter, M is the 3rd letter, N is the 2nd letter - the 9th letter, and O is the 5th letter. Now proceed to the final at N55/56.JKL W003/56.MNO.
The trail is called the Badger Trail as it is based near the badger setts that are located in the park, you will pass a few furry friends on you way to completing this cache. Please take a seat at the viewing platform and see if you can spot any. Once you have completed the geocaches in the park you can also go to the visitor centre and view a replica of a badger sett, kids can climb through and pretend to be one and adults can have a wee crawl through too if you wish.
