River in the Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Tzfyr: Thanks to Watford Chick for returning the remains of this cache to me.

Unfortunately, the contents of this cache have been lost, due to what can only be carelessness on the part of a geocacher: the dry bag is intact, and if it had been sealed up correctly and returned to the original location it would have been safe from the elements and effectively impossible to muggle.

This is a difficult and costly cache to maintain, and that doesn't seem worth it if there are members of the community not willing to put in the small amount of effort to look after it. As such, I'm going to let this one go.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

At the foot of the more scenic route connecting old and new Amersham. From here you will hear the bells of St Mary's Church and, on the odd occasion, see a small festival set up on the grass.

Bring wellies, and perhaps waterproof trousers. This area is often dense with muggles, so pick your time carefully (perhaps an evening or weekday) or bring along a dog or small child as a smokescreen. I don't recommend trying for it on your way to work.

Please close both the inner and outer containers carefully before returning to the hide - if you haven't seen one of these before, note the way it is sealed before you open it. The environmental camouflage also keeps the cache in place, so please return it to the same spot.

A note from LeHylton:

Make sure to not step on the white-clawed crayfish as they're very rare and Amersham is the only location they seem to grow on the River Misbourne, but don't worry about signal crayfish (dark ones) as they're killing off the white!

Pride for FTF (congratulations Clue 72 with a speedy and joyous find), prize for FTF with child - a small Lego set (brand new but repackaged to fit in the cache). There's also a pack of cards as a possible swappable.
