Geocache Description:

Follow in the footsteps of the old night-carts through the historic narrow lanes and backstreets of West Hobart to Hugo's Hatch.

This area of West Hobart is comprised of narrow streets and laneways and contains several houses constructed the early to mid 1800's. The set of buildings around the cache were constructed in the late 1800's and were home to the Lord Mayor of Hobart from 1922-23. This cache is associated with a former kitchen and bathroom built in 1875 that serviced a now demolished cottage built between 1825 and 1845. Evidently, the cast iron cistern within was serviced by a so-called night-cart back in the old days.

[Please Note that this cache regularly has its logbook taken (seven replacements now!). Please enjoy finding the cache, but apologies if there is no logbook for recording your visit]
