This cache is part of a series of Doctor Who caches - placed because Doctor Who is the best TV show ever!
The cache locations have been chosen because they are great places to visit and they correspond to something in the Doctor Who episode. At each cache you will collect a clue that will help lead you to the final cache in the series. This cache contains Clue #3.
The original Gridlock cache was the victim of muggling (and high water) on a few too many occasions, so we have archived it and created Gridlock, Take Two with a different camo, about 30m from the original cache.
Cache Information
The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates!!
Gridlock, Take Two is located along the Queenscliff Lagoon Park Sculpture Walk beside Manly Lagoon. The sculptures are quite interesting, so we suggest that you take the entire (short) walk after finding the cache. It is a very high Muggle area so you will have to exercise stealth.
This is a very simple multi cache. The listed coordinates to take you to the Macra sculpture. From there the cache is a distance of about 18m at 283 degrees True.
Some free 2-hour parking is available at either end of the walk, though it can be a bit tricky to find a spot. There is paid parking along the beachfront and unlimited street parking if you venture a bit further to the streets of Queenscliff.
IMPORTANT
- The cache contains a logbook only, so please bring your own writing utensil. There is no room for swaps or TBs.
- Don't forget to write down the clue!
- Please replace the cache and camo exactly as you found it. There is only ONE correct location for the cache!

Gridlock Synopsis (Doctor Who Series 3, Episode 3)
The Doctor and Martha travel forward in time to New New York. The Doctor’s old friend, the Face of Boe, detects the arrival of the TARDIS and sends his servant, Novice Hame, to find the Doctor. Before the servant finds the Doctor, Martha is kidnapped (or ‘carjacked’) and put into one of the gridlocked shuttle cars beneath the city. As the Doctor tries to find his way to Martha, they discover something is lurking in the fog below the Fast Lane - an old villain from the Troughton era – the giant crab-like Macra! The increasingly desperate Doctor is found by Novice Hame and taken to the Face of Boe, who reveals his final secret.
About Queenscliff Lagoon Park Sculpture Walk

Artists: Ishi Buki Sandstone Sculptors and Renee Monique
Location: Quota Park Playground and Manly Lagoon foreshore at Queenscliff
Eight sandstone sculptures, associated signs and murals focus on raising community environmental awareness of Manly Lagoon catchment’s native terrestrial and aquatic fauna, through the ‘Hop in and Help Manly Lagoon’ environment education programme, initiated by Manly Environment Centre (MEC).
Animal mascots were designed by community artist Renee Monique, and reflect a sample of Manly Lagoon catchment’s native wildlife. The sandstone sculptures were created by northern beaches based Ishi Buki sculptors, with associated signs and environmental messages based on artwork submitted by local schoolchildren. Murals by Renee within the playground convey human impacts within the lagoon catchment, while the building mural depicts past recollections of lagoon activity by older residents.
Ishi Buki is a Northern Beaches based stone sculpture company. Working predominately in sandstone, they have completed projects for gardens, playgrounds and other environments. Their work can also be seen at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.
Renee Monique is a local mural artist who has worked on a number of public art projects on the Northern Beaches.
About Manly Lagoon

Manly Lagoon is a small coastal lagoon situated at the boundary of Manly and Warringah in Sydney’s Northern Beaches area.
The Manly Lagoon catchment consists of 3 major freshwater creeks:
- Burnt Bridge Creek
- Manly Creek
- Brookvale Creek
The water body of the lagoon has the following dimensions:
- Catchment area: 17.9 kilometers
- Perimeter: 4.77 kilometers
- Length: 2.23 kilometres
- Maximum width: 0.13 kilometres
- Water area: 0.19 kilometers
Manly Lagoon is now 10% of its original size and is considered one of the most polluted recreational waterways on the east coast of Australia. Swimming, boating and fishing are prohibited due to the poor water quality. Environmental investigations have identified numerous pollution sources including urban storm water runoff, sewage overflows, tip site leachate, and illegal discharge and dumping of industrial and trade waste.
Despite past and present pollution problems, Manly and Warringah Councils jointly manage the Lagoon together with NSW Fisheries, Department of Infrastructure Planning and Natural Resources and community members. Over the past 5 years Manly Lagoon has gradually been improved under many different Manly Council projects, which has resulted in the following improvements:
- regrading and planting out of eroded areas,
- installation of interpretive signage, murals and sculptures,
- playground upgrades,
- planting of established trees for picnic areas, and
- walking path creation.
