Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of caches in Santa Maria meant to point out unique or historical locations around the city.  This one is at the site of the first water works and Santa Maria Valley Historical Society Museum.  Stealth will be needed for this cache, but it will be much easier outside of museum operating hours.  Bring a pen/pencil to sign the log and your geo-senses.  Please re-hide the cache as found and ensure it stays in place.

I recently had a chance to visit the Historical Museum at this location and there is a lot of neat stuff inside.  Definitely a good place to bring the family.  This is also the site of Santa Maria's first water works, which is recognized by a landmark plaque in front of the building, as historical location #3.  The water works was established by Ruben Hart in 1880, and purchased from him by the city in 1916.  It was also home to "The Plunge," Santa Maria's indoor public swimming pool.
