EN: Plokata is the name of the Korčula’s main square. It is situated just in front of the stairs that lead to the old town, and it is the centre of the Korčula life. For the older people, here is the original Facebook – the board where the recent obituaries are displayed. The program for cinema, cultural happenings, concerts, exhibitions, sport games, and all the relevant venues are displayed here, in several display panels. Two of the three newspaper stands are also here, as well as a couple of cafes, bakeries, and several shops. In the morning, it is the place where locals pass each other, exchange a couple of words, and continue with their business. Also, a perfect place where you can sit, have a coffee, and watch a never-ending defile of tourists (my favorite pastime).
HR: Plokata je ime korčulanskog glavnog trga, centra javnog života Korčule, smještenog malo niže od stepenica koje vode u stari grad. Za starije ljude, ovdje se nalazi originalni Facebook – oglasna ploča sa recentnim osmrtnicama. Također, program za kino, kulturne manifestacije, koncerte, izložbe, sportske priredbe, te obavijesti za sva lokalna događanja se objavljuju ovdje, u par izloga i oglasnih mjesta. Dva od tri gradska kioska se nalaze ovdje, kao I par kafića, pekara te nekoliko dućana. Ujutro, ovo je mjesto gdje se lokalci mimoilaze razmjenjujući par riječi, te nastavljaju svojim poslom. Također, idealno mjesto za sjesti, popiti kafu, te promatrati neprekidnu rijeku turista (moja omiljena zabava).
