A beautiful spot in a cove by a bay in lake monduran, this lake is held back by a concrete dam wall and holds 562,000ML of fresh water that was once Kolan River but it's the mountain peaks that once stood high above this river catchment that make up the islands and bay heads that you see today-Can you see any Sandstone at GZ? An interesting geological feature is displayed near Gin Gin. This is a series of 35 potholes (billed as 'mystery craters') in sandstone that has veins of ochre running through it. There has been no clear explanation of how this formation evolved..
(Wash) from boats making waves or just winds that blow from the south that wash over the flats and eats away at the banks exposing the rock that once would of been covered with top soil.
This is not a hard earth cache to log your find on, it's just a hard place to get to. Once here all you need to answer is 3 questions relating to the rock colour, texture and type.
Q1: With the banks been washed/eaten away what colour is the banks edge just above the water line?.
Q2: What texture is the stone left behind?.
Q3: In your own thoughts What type of rock is visible (white river pebbles), (blue iron stone), (cream coloured hardened clay) or (compressed sand) that is known as sandstone?.
