The Dalmore Reserve was once a small pine plantation but about 10 years ago the DCC cut the pine trees down and donated a number of native plantings to the community for a beautification project of the reserve. The plants are growing nicely now but the area is a bit overgrown with long grass and gorse in places. The community has recently held a number of working bees to put in tracks and keep on top of the gorse. With great views over the city, this reserve is a hidden gem and if you spend some time here you will hear the tui, see kereru and other birds.
Please wear sturdy footwear as the tracks can be muddy and slippery in places. Be aware of gorse and other prickly plants.
