Geocache Description:

Nothing better than a night of movies with good friends! Come on! You bring the popcorn, I have the flicks! Growing up in the 80's and 90's there was nothing better than Friday nights at the video store and grabbing a couple movies for the weekend. I'm going to take you on a short tour of some of my absolute favorite movie franchises. Thank you to jcsugar for the idea. Please make sure to check out her cache: The Tin Man (GC5N48Q)

Another of my all time favorite movies! There is so much in this film, that you could make hundreds of puzzles off the cameos, quotes, and backgrounds alone. Today I'm going to focus mostly on one of my favorite parts of the movie, the music.

There were many cameos of musicians and movie stars sprinkled... not more like lined up through out the entirety of the movie. It is almost a who's who of pop culture taken in a snapshot of 1980, and almost single handedly breathed new life into the blues genre of music, bringing it to new generations in a fresh presentation. Some of these artist were pulled practically out of retirement and filmed for the first time. It was a really neat time.

Well, get your fried chicken, coke, and dry toast ready. Here's the quiz for The Blues Brothers.

===============================================================

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Jake: Hit it.

a. First, and easy one. We're on a mission from _____________? Is it The Penguin=1, God=2, The Pope=3, or The President=4

b. Before Jake and Elwood go into Ray's Music Shop, they stop to listen to a real blues legend sing a signature song on the street. John Lee Hooker sings "__________". Now take the main word he is repeating (also the name of the song) and write it down. Look carefully for a two digit number in the letter. Yes, there really is one there. Once you find it, add 3 to the first digit only.

c. What is the real first name of the actor playing Curtis? How many letters are in his name? Add one while you're at it...

d. Find the name of the song playing in the background during the Chez Paul scene and divide the second word's letter count by five.

e. What is the name of the theme playing while Elwood drives Jake to his apartment in Chicago. The only part you need to worry about is the one that names both a Beatle and a type of Kiss. Add the letters and the add three more...you know...just for fun...and the right answer...you need that...for some reason...

f. How many fried chickens does Jake order at the Soul Food Cafe?

g. Can't turn you what? The number of letters in the final word naming the song the band plays while Curtis introduces the Blue Brothers. Multiply by two, then Divide by five.

h. Anybody want an orange drink? An orange drink? And orange... what? Take that last word from John Candy's improvised line and divide it by two. Bonus Trivia: This also counted as a very subtle product placement.

i. Are Elwood and Jake both natural born brothers? Yes=3 and no=2. For fairness, this isn't in the movie, but can be found in Blue Brothers: Private, a book released in 1980, written by Dan Aykroyd and Judith Belushi-Pisano (Wife and widow of the late John Belushi who played Jake) It's an interesting little tid-bit.
