Geocache Description:

Pitch in and help keep our Open Spaces as beautiful as possible! The event will start at 9:00AM, and will wrap up around noon.

The yearly tradition continues! As we've done in years past, we will be celebrating National Public Lands Day with what promises to be another great CITO event. Based on some feedback I've gotten, I figured that this year would be a good one to return to the Bosque. With all the rains, the riverside forest has collected a lot of the debris and refuse that washes down from the higher elevations in the city. We'll meet at the northwest corner of Central Ave and the river (enter at the traffic light at Sunset & Central). We will likely be providing a large passenger van to shuttle a group (or groups, depending on the number of participants) to a few more remote locations that also could use some CITO TLC.

Also based on feedback from prior events, I will forgo the bagels and cream cheese at the start of the event this year, and will instead plan on providing some light snacks & refreshments, focusing on portable snacks that people can take with them to help keep them fueled throughout the day. Let me know how that sounds to you all. I will also be contacting REI to see if they will continue their sponsorship of this event by providing raffle prizes. If anyone else knows of someone who might want to contribute, please feel free to put them in touch with me.

Please bring your own gloves, hat, water, and sun protection. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces, and hope to meet some new friends. Please feel free to contact me (Erik Zsemlye, 505-452-5208, ezsemlye@cabq.gov) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thanks!
