Update, Dec. 23, 2016: Hildy's cancer returned aggressively at the start of December 2016 and in a span of only four days left her paralyzed. We made the excruciating decision to put her down on Dec. 5. We miss her so much, as she was such a bringer of joy and loved her snuggles. We will miss her.
This cache is named after our youngest and newest pet - Hildy. Hildy is a very cuddly golden retriever who we brought into our lives in the spring of 2014. The cahce is placed in close proximity to the Atlantic Vet College, where Hildy has been spending more and more time. Just after turning a year old, Hildy was diagnosed with bone cancer in her front right leg. She underwent surgery at the vet college and the bone was removed successfully, so amputation was not required. She has been getting chemo treatments once every three weeks since Spring of 2015. While the prognosis for osteosarcoma in dogs is never long, we don't regret any of our decisions, giving her a shot at a healthy, pain-free life. The folks at the vet college are absolutely terrific and Hildy has become great friends with all the staff there! You can see a picture of Hildy in the gallery for this cache!
