Geocache Description:

The Nose Hill Erosion Earchcache is located on a main trail in Nose Hill Park. The trail leading to the earthcache is a slow but steady climb.

A large river flowing from the mountains to the west deposited gravels on top of sandstone and shales that formed the hill's bedrock.  If you look to the south across the valley and you will see that you are level with Broadcast Hill.  A large plain connected the two hills.  Over time, ancient rivers flowing from the Rocky Mountains started to erode the plain, forming the wide valley that seperates the hills today.

Water continues to shape Nose Hill in many ways.  Coulees are characterized by steep walls that have been shaped by erosion.  Coulees on this hill started as flat land as well.  Water from the top of the hill flowed down the slope and carried dirt and rocks away.

To log this earthcache, you must email (or message) me the following information:

1) What is the elevation (per your GPSr) at ground zero?

2) During your walk to the cache, what evidence can you find that the hill continues to be eroded?

3) According to the information sign at ground zero, how long did it take to form Nose Hill?
