A event for cachers to get together, with kids and dogs welcome, for a picnic and to explore the area where the author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings grew up.
The event will take place on Monday 24 August regardless of the weather - bring your wellies and brollies if necessary - and the log book will be available to sign from 5pm to 8pm. The coordinates given are for the car park and the gates are open from dawn to dusk. Moseley Bog was where J.R.R. Tolkien played when he was young and it is thought that many of the ideas behind The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were formed on his adventures here. It's lovely inviting woodland and wetland with many paths and trails, and a few Lord of the Rings themed caches for those who haven't yet found them. Cachers should bring their own picnic. Cupcakes, fizzy drinks, and dog treats will be provided and there will also be a raffle. And it seems that dear Bilbo has slipped his magic ring on and vanished... again. Thorin and his party of dwarves need their burglar to get into Erebor so there will also be a 'Find the Burglar' quiz and hunt. Please note -- Ring Wraiths attending the event will not be permitted to participate in the 'Find the Burglar' contest because their ability to see a hobbit wearing a magic ring would give them a very unfair advantage.
