James Curtis Donahue, 1908- 1985.


So he is who the park is named after. • Viola Ann Swisher Donahue, age 93, passed away peacefully on Dec. 20, 2008, at the home of her daughter Nona, in Wimer, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Donahue, of Medford, Ore.; two brothers, Ben Swisher, of Seattle, Wash., and Ralph Swisher, of Merrill, Ore. The daughter of Frank Vincent Swisher and Olga Christina Severina Hasselberg, Vi was born Jan. 29, 1915, at her parents homestead near Tumalo, Ore. Later the family moved to Phoenix, Ore., where they were longtime residents. She married her husband Curt in 1936, and lived for a time in Portland and Summer Lake before moving to Medford in 1942. For 45 years they resided on their five acre farm on Spring Street, that is now known as the Donahue-Frohnmayer Park. After raising four daughters, she was employed for many years at the accounting firm of Haskins and Sells. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and spent most winters in Arizona. She is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Donahue, of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Kathleen Green, of Sacramento, Calif., Nancy (John) Hamlin, of Medford, Ore., and Nona Donahue, of Wimer, Ore.; six grandsons; and four great-grandaughters
