Geocache Description:

Original Lowick war memorial, made from stone quarried at Barmoor.

This cache is located in a beautiful area of the country.

My information regarding the memorial is quite sketchy and 2nd hand so if anyone knows any further information please do let me know.

The memorial was originally placed in Lowick village follow WW1 in around 1920, unfortunately it was not well liked by the villagers. The Sitwell family, who owned land in the area, replaced it with a more traditional memorial and moved the original to its current home. The stone came from the local Barmoor quarry.

Small gift for FTF!

Please with the kind permission of Barmoor Castle Country Park.
