Patrick D. Byrne‚ 39‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Ladder 101. He studied accounting and started his own roofing company before joining the fire department. Byrne‚ who graduated from the Fire Academy in 1994‚ was considered an excellent firefighter who knew his job. When asked what he did‚ he would reply – ‘Fighting fires‚ saving lives.’
