Die Karstlandschaft Silberen
Die Silberen ist eine in der ganzen Schweiz einmalige Karstlandschaft. Sie weist alle Zwischenstufen vom nackten Fels bis zur geschlossenen Vegetationsdecke und zum subalpinen Wald auf. Ebenfalls dazu gehört das grösste Karrenfeld der Schweiz, gebildet hauptsächlich im Schrattenkalk, der vor ca 125 Millionen Jahren abgelagert wurde.
Unter der Silberen befinden sich mit dem Höllloch und dem Silberensystem die zwei längsten Höhlensysteme des Kantons Schwyz. Das Hölloch ist mit seinen ca 200 km das zweitlängste in ganz Europa.
Die Caches
Auf der ganzen Tour ‘Karstspur Silberen’ sind acht Caches versteckt, sechs Traditionelle, ein EarthCache und ein Multi-Cache. Der Multi beginnt auf dem Pragelpass - Parkplatz Ost. Für die finalen Koordinaten des Multis und für den EarthCache müssen auf der ganzen Tour Informationen gesammelt werden. Dabei kommt ihr an allen anderen vorbei. Die finale Box des Multis liegt danach irgendwo zwischen dem letzten Traditionellen und dem Parkplatz.
Also aufgepasst, keine Information und keinen Cache verpassen…
Die Tour
Die ganze Rundwanderung hat eine Länge von ungefähr 15 km und geht über 1100 Höhenmeter. Angegeben ist die Wanderzeit mit 6 Stunden.
Start und Ziel ist der Parkplatz Ost auf dem Pragelpass auf ungefähr 1560 m.ü.M. (Achtung: die Zufahrt am Wochenende nur von Muotathal her möglich, vom Klöntal her ist die Zufahrt zum Pragelpass gesperrt).
Von dort geht’s über Butzen auf die Silberen / Twärenen auf 2319 m.ü.M. und danach geht’s in Richtung Silberenalp weiter. Kurz vor der Hinter Silberenalp geht’s dann via Alpeli und Biet zurück zum Parkplatz Ost auf dem Pragelpass.
Wildruhezone
Ein Teil der Karstspur Silberen liegt in der Wildruhezone 'Gampel' und darf zwischen dem 15. November und dem 15. Mai nicht besucht werden. Darum wird die ganze Serie 'Karstspur Silberen' während dieser Zeit deaktiviert. Bitte beachtet dieses Verbot.

Vorsichtsmassnahmen:
- Die Tour wird auf der SAC Wanderskala mit T3 angegeben: anspruchsvolles Bergwandern. Gute Trittsicherheit und die richtige Ausrüstung (es geht ja auch bis über 2300 m. ü. M. hinauf) sind Voraussetzung
- Die Wege sollten nicht verlassen werden, es handelt sich um ein Karstgebiet und ist stark zerklüftet
- Das Gebiet ist niederschlagsreich und kann daher noch recht lang in den Frühling hinein Schneefelder aufweisen
- Die Caches sind soweit möglich und falls nicht anders erwähnt dem Weg entlang versteckt
- Jeder ist für seine Handlungen selbst verantwortlich, überschätzt Euch nicht

Das Auto kann/muss bei den Ankerkoordinaten parkiert werden, von dort geht's dann zu Fuss auf die sechsstündige Tour über 15 km und ungefähr 1100 Höhenmeter.

Auf dem Fels direkt unterhalb des Wegweisers ganz in der Nähe vom Pfosten hat es eine kleine quadratische ungefähr 10 cm x 10 cm grosse Informationstafel. Welche zweistellige Nummer steht oben rechts auf dieser Tafel ? Bilde die Einstellige Quersumme davon.
Alternative Aufgabenstellung: Da die Tafel inzwischen schlecht lesbar ist, hier ein anderer Weg um an die Zahl j zu kommen: die speziellen Schrauben, mit denen die Tafel am Fels festgemacht ist, brauchen einen Schraubenzieher mit einer speziellen Anzahl Ecken. Versteckt ist der finale Endcache standesgemäss im Karst, direkt am Weg auf einer Höhe von ungefähr 2.5 bis 3 m. Der Cache ist ungefähr mit D2/T2.5 zu werten, die im Listing verwendete Wertung gilt für den Multi und die Tour als ganzes.

The karst landscape Silberen
The Silberen is a for Switzerland unique karst landscape. It contains all different flavours from naked rock to closed carpet of vegetation and subalpine forest. The biggest miniature erosion of a limestone surface in whole Switzerland also belongs to the Silberen. This is built mainly in about 125 million years old limestone.
Below the Silberen you find the Hölloch and the Silberensystem, the two longest cave systems in Canton Schwyz. The Hölloch is with it's length of about 200 km number two of all caves in whole Europe.
The Caches
On the whole tour you will find eight caches, six traditionals, one earthcache and a multi cache. The multi cache starts on Pragel pass - Parking East. For the final coordinates of the multi and for the earthcache you have to collect information on the whole tour. During that you'll pass all the other caches. The final box of the multi is located somewhere between the last traditional and the parking.
Therefore pay attention not to miss any relevant information or a cache...
The Tour
The complete round tour has a length of about 16 km and you will have to make about 1100 m of altitude difference. You have to calculate about 6 hours.
The start and the destination is the parking east on Pragel pass on about 1560 m above sea level (Attention: on the weekends access is only possible from Muotathal, the street from Klöntal to Pragel pass is closed on weekends).
From there you hike via Butzen to Silberen / Twären on 2319 m above sea level. After that you continue heading towards Silberenalp and return to the parking via Alpeli and Biet.
Rest area for animals
Part of the tour 'Karstspur Silberen' is inside the rest area for animals with the name 'Gampel'. It is not allowed to enter this area between the 15th November and 15th May. Therefore the complete tour 'Karstspur Silberen' will be deactivated during that time. Please adhere to this prohibition of access.

Precaution measures:
- The tour has the level T3 on the SAC Hiking Scale: ambitious mountain hiking. Well sure-footed and correct equipment is prerequisite (you hike up to over 2300 m above sea level)
- You should stay on the trails, its highly jointed
- The area is rich in precipitation and therefore it's possible to encounter snow fields even in late spring
- The caches are located near the trail if not indicated differently
- each individual is responsible for his own actions, don't overestimate yourself

As the topic of the complete tour is the karst, the cache is hidden inside a limestone pavement directly beside the path on a heigth of about 2.5 to 3 meters. The cache itself is a D2/T2.5, the difficulties in the listing are those for the complete multi and the complete tour.
