This cache is located near to Scotstown Moor which is a Local Nature Reserve popular with a lot of dog walkers and joggers. Scotstown is close to my heart as it was the focus for both my Undergrad and Masters dissertations and I spent many an hour there taking samples and IDing plants! Scotstown also has a lot of personal memories for me so it is somewhere that I will never forget.
The area that the cache is hidden in is a lovely little woodland walk that I used to cut through everyday when walking from the bus to Scotstown. I loved sitting in here to have my lunch, play with passing dogs or just stop and listen to the woodpeckers up above. The cache is hidden slightly off the trail so as to make it a bit easier to sign the log without being spotted by passing muggles. Please keep an eye out though as the path below can be busy at times.
There are two ways to approach the cache.
Route 1 accesses the woodland from across the road from the south of Scotstown and there is just a gentle slope to go up before you get fully under the trees. There isn't a true path but the ground is fairly compacted with just a few tree roots and then another gentle climb to GZ. This route should be achievable by most.
Route 2 accesses the other end of the woodland and at point 2b features a stepped climb, this can be a little slippery in winter. There is also then a section that has a steep drop to one side of it so I wouldn't recommend this way if you have children with you. For confident walkers though this is a nice walk through to the cache and really helps you feel you are escaping the city.
The cache itself is a small lock-and-lock with brown camouflage (plus special decoration!) and has room for small swaps and TBs. No room for a pen though so please bring your own.
Congratulations to Thathanka on a very speedy FTF :)
Happy hunting and I hope you enjoy this little area as much as I do.
