Geocache Description:

Small camo container, BYOP, no need to venture into the grounds of the medical centre.

This is the site of the Queen Victoria Hospital, the place where many Morecambrians were born from the turn of the century up until the late 1970s. As someone who was not born in the area (my husband calls me a 'Southerner', having been born in the NHS's first hospital an hour south of here) I was fascinated to hear the term "sand grown 'un" as a lovely local term for people who were born in Morecambe. There is no definitive answer to what makes you a "sand grown 'un", some say you simply need to be born in Morecambe (so my husband would be), others claim your parents must have been born here too (so he wouldn't qualify). Either way, only a child born at home now in Morecambe would claim this title as the hospital is now long gone, it was replaced in the early 2000s by the modern clinic you see in front of you, my children were born at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, whether that makes them Lancastrian or Morecambrian is a whole other debate...


On to the cache; at the given co-ords you should be facing the new building with the former nurses home (the last standing part of the hospital) to your left. There is an identifying number on the pole in front of you in the form of 2 letters - DP - and 3 numbers, you just need the numbers here, let's call them XYZ. The cache can be found at:

A = Half of X
B = The sum of Y & Z
C = X minus Y
D = Take Z from Y
E = Add Z to Y
F = Double Z then add Y
