Geocache Description:

An event to mark International Earthcache Day .

Earthcache LogoMeet at 2.00 pm at the published coordinates to discuss geocaching, earthcaches and swop Travelbugs.

The event will finish at 2.30 pm when the walk will will start at 2.30 pm and will last at least an hour while we look for fossils on the outside of the British Library. We will leave the British Library at 4.00pm


Meet at the location for a geological walk of discovery round the outside of the British Library at 2.00 pm. We will also visit the Earthcache An Eye for the Planets.

Just announced you will receive a special souvenir for finding an an cache on International Earthcache Day.

Each year the Geological Society of America celebrates International EarthCache Day on the first Sunday of Earth Science Week .

International Earthcache Day is part of World in Space Week.

Since its United Nations declaration in 1999, World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. More than 1,400 events in 80 countries celebrated the benefits of space and excitement about space exploration in 2014. With the new deep space discoveries theme “Discovery” World In Space Week aims to inspire even more events around the world in October 2015.

.There is a mystery . In his notes the Professor described fossils of sponges. When I visited the British Library a few weeks ago, although I found coral fossils, I was unable ro find any fossilised sponges. There will be a prize for the first person to find the sponge fossils. Please bring with you a magnifying glass and a bottle of water to wet the stones to make the fossils clearer.
