Geocache Description:

Hidden treasure on the shore of Lake Ontario.

No bikes are allowed in the actual conservation area. No bushwacking is required and you do not need to leave the trails (except for the final cache ~5 meters). Best access and parking is available at Jack Darling Park.

This is a multi-stage cache with a physical cache only at the final coordinate. All other stages are scenic data gathering areas required to calculate the actual cache coordinates.

Stage One: At the start coordinates (N43°31.236' by W79°36.155') are two pillar signs for the conservation area. On the 2nd pillar, there are some round metal signs (indicating 'no bikes' for example). Note the number of round signs as #1 and proceed to the next stage.

Stage Two: Is a map that can be found at N43°31.141' by W79°36.318'. On the map is some information about the conservation area including a phrase "...more than xxx bird species...'. Note the number from this phrase as #2 and proceed to the next stage.

Stage Three: Is a lookout platform that can be found at N43°31.078' by W79°36.266'. Please count the number of steps for the lookout platform (do not count the platform as a step) and note the number as #3.

Now that you have seen some of the area and collected the data, it's time to calculate the cache coordinates. Take the number you noted as #1 and multiply it by the number you noted as #2 and note the result as #4. Next, take the number you noted as #1 and multiply it by the number you noted as #3 and note the result as #5. Now take the number you noted as #4 and add it to the number you noted as #5 which should leave you with a three digit number.

If you have followed all of that, you can divide your three digit result by 1000 and then add it to both N43°30.152' and W79°36.097' to determine the actual coordinates of the cache. The elevation of the cache is approximately 84 meters.

Note: The above coordinates were revised to suit a new hiding spot on Nov.12,2002

The new hiding area is more exposed than the old area, so please be discreet. Also, please ensure that you tuck the cache back in the same spot when you are done.
