Geocache Description:

Welcome to Larkin Cross Road in the lovely Township of Spallumcheen!

Congratulations iqfilm on the FTF!!!

I grew up here, and my parents still live along this road. The area is a good mix of larger scale farms, and smaller single-family properties. The main facilities to Rogers Foods are on this road. I used to catch the bus at Rogers Foods, and I used to play street hockey in their parking lot with friends.

There have been a few changes here over the years with a few more homes being added and some huge cattle barns. The one major change in 2010 involved the reconstruction of the intersection with Highway 97, and the addition of the two big roundabouts.

This is a perfect area for my very first hide as I’m in the area often to be able to monitor it.

The new interchange makes this an ideal spot for a cache as well because – no matter if you’re heading north or south - it’s so easy to get on and off the highway for a quick grab. Pull out parking is on the west side of the road, directly across from ground-zero. Do NOT attempt to park on the Highway as that would be very dangerous, and there is no access to the cache from that far above.

Take some time to have a look at the sheer rock where they have blasted to straighten out and widen this stretch of highway.

I’ve started this cache out with some nice new packaged toys for kids and a trackable from the Netherlands that I picked up in another cache not too far from here.

If you’re in the area why not take a few more minutes and check out the three other caches further down Larkin Cross Road: GC226BV, GC256DJ, and GC2GF0P.
