A difficult though ultimately rewarding scramble up a very steep gully with loose rock. Caution required. The last 10m of the Devil's Coachroad Gully is perhaps the most difficult. We had advice to keep to the left near the top. This route will bring you to a tight V in the rocks which involves some "creative" manoeuvres to overcome the last few metres of rock. The top of the Gully is pretty much the top of Slieve Beg, take a well earned break. Again caution is advised. Lots of loose rock and a Helmet could also be worn for piece of mind.
Fantastic views on the way up and you will certainly have earned your cuppa when you emerge.
Cache is placed against the right hand side wall at the start of the gully proper...and obvious hiding place but we want you to find it having come this far. Cache is clear tupperware box with white lid and was wrapped in plastic bag when hidden containing small logbook, pencil, poncho and space blanket and placed behind some small rocks.
