ENGLISH:

Curvature of the Earth
Standing on the shore, facing the endless wide sea, one succumbs (give in) to the magic of waves and water with colors ranging in from turquoise to the darkest ultramarine. What possibly would be beyond the horizon?

Eartcache:
Is it possible to see Corsica from the shores of Liguria? Yes - you can, someone or many will say yes. Whether that's true or not - and how far you can see out to sea is held in geometric calculation basis. Of course, a sufficient visibility is needed - in fog, not a single island could be seen, as you can expect as you like. In cold weather, one can see further. When a man stands on the beach, the horizon disappears just after just 5 km.

On a mountain (1000 m above sea level) you can see with excellent visibility 112.88 km far. However, the sight in a day of normal weather is just around 50 km due to atmospheric effects such as hydrometeors (rain, snow or fog) or Lithometeore (dust or smoke) or aerosols (air pollution).

Ask:
1. Can you see with an extraordinarily good visibility Corsica from the port of Vado Ligure?
2. Is it theoretically possible to see from the Monte Carmo di Loano (1389 m above sea level - one of the highest mountains in the province of Savona, the highest mountain of Corsica, the Monto Cinto (2706 m above sea level) at a distance of about 208 km?
3. At the given coordinates (on the way) you can see the houses on the coast of Genoa. Now go down to WP1. Is it now possible to see (from WP1) the small island off Bergeggi with eyes at sea level?

In piedi sulla riva, di fronte al vasto mare infinito, uno soccombe alla magia delle onde e dell' acqua di colore variabile dal turchese al blu oltremare scuro. Ma cosa c’è forse oltre l'orizzonte?

Earthcache:
E ' possibile vedere la Corsica dalle coste della Liguria? Sì - è possibile, qualcuno o molti diranno di sì. Se questo è vero o no e quanto lontano si può vedere in mare aperto si può definire solo su una base di calcolo geometrico. Naturalmente, è necessario avere una sufficiente visibilità - in caso di nebbia, non una sola isola può essere vista, si può calcolare quanto si vuole . Nella stagione fredda si può vedere più lontano. Quando un uomo si trova sulla spiaggia, l'orizzonte scompare già dopo appena 5 km.

Su una montagna (1000 m slm) si vede con ottima visibilità fino a 112,88 chilometri . Tuttavia, la vista con tempo normale è di soli circa 50 km a causa di vari effetti atmosferici: quali idrometeore (pioggia, neve o nebbia) o Lithometeore (polvere o fumo) o aerosol (inquinamento atmosferico).

Domande:
1. Si può vedere in una giornata di straordinariamente buona visibilità la Corsica dal porto di Vado Ligure?
2. è teoricamente possibile vedere dal Monte Carmo di Loano (1389 m slm, una delle più alte montagne della provincia di Savona) la più alta montagne della Corsica, il Monto Cinto (2706 m slm), ad una distanza di circa 208 km?
3. Alle coordinate indicate (sulla strada) è possibile vedere le case sulla costa di Genova. Ora scendete a WP1. Si vede adesso (da WP1) le case sulla costa di Genova con gli occhi a livello del mare?

Man steht am Ufer, schaut hinaus auf das endlos weite Meer und lässt sich von Wellen und Wasser vom hellen Türkis bis ins tiefste Dunkelblau verzaubern. Was ist wohl hinter dem Horizont?

Earthcache:
Kann man von Ligurien aus Korsika sehen? Ja - man kann, wird der eine oder andere sagen. Ob das stimmt oder nicht - und wie weit man auf das Meer hinaus sehen kann wird in geometrischen Berechnungsgrundlagen festgehalten. Natürlich ist auch eine entsprechende Sicht notwendig - bei Nebel ist keine Insel zu sehen, da kann man rechnen wie man will. Bei kaltem Wetter sieht man übrigens weiter. Wenn ein Mensch am Strand steht, verschwindet der Horizont bereits nach nur ca. 5 km.

Auf einem Berg (1000 m ü. NHN/m ü.M.) sieht man also bei ausgezeichneter Sicht 112.88 km weit. Die Sichtweite bei normalem Wetter ist jedoch nur etwa 50 km wegen den atmosphärischen Effekten wie Hydrometeore (Niederschläge, Schneefall oder Nebel) oder Lithometeore (Staub oder Rauch) oder Aerosole (Luftverschmutzung).

Fragen:
1. Kann man vom Hafen in Vado Ligure aus bei ausserordentlich guter Sicht Korsika sehen?
2. Kann man theoretisch vom Monte Carmo di Loano (1389 m ü. NHN/m ü.M. - einem der höchsten Berge in der Provinz Savona), den höchsten Berg von Korsika, den Monto Cinto (2706 m ü. NHN/m ü.M.) mit einer Distanz von ca. 208 km sehen?
3. Bei den Koordinaten auf dem Weg siehst Du die Häuser an der Küste von Genua. Gehe nun hinunter zu WP1. Siehst Du nun vom WP1 die Häuser an der Küste von Genua mit den Augen auf Meereshöhe?
