Geocache Description:

Welcome to Sealey Park

This is a two stage Multi-Cache.  Should be fairly quick.  There are two reference points within the park where the necessary information can be collected.  Enjoy the park, you may even want to bring your Tennis Racquet for a game or two!

Here's a bit of Park History:

THE PLACE: Sealey Park is on Main Street South in Waterdown.

THE NAME: Charles Sealey (1828-1906) was one of the first men elected to the council of the village of Waterdown after it broke away from the East Flamborough Township in 1878.

THE STORY: Sealey was a prosperous merchant. He and four other men were sworn into office on Jan. 24, 1879, and he was elected as reeve. He served in that post until 1884. The park was established in 1929 after the high school relocated to another site. His son, William, was elected reeve of East Flamborough in 1896 and later served as a Liberal MP.

Visit the reference points in the park, and collect the necessary information for the Final Location:

Here you will find the only remains of the original Waterdown High School.  Towards the top, you will notice an engraved stone.  Find  the date on the stone, divide by 1000 and add to the following meaningless coordinates: N 43 18.007.  This will give you the final North coordinates for this cache.

On the left side of the building, near the bank, you will find a barrel assembly for a 10.5 cm leFH model 1916 German Howitzer.  The gun is part of the collection of war trophies that the Canadian Government shipped back to Canada and then distributed to communities who had submitted a request.

On the gun, there are several numbers.  Locate the number that starts with "Nr".  Take that number, and divide by 1000.  Then add to the following meaningless coordinates:  W 079 39.615

You now have the location of the final cache container.  Use caution when retrieving the container, and replace as found.

Good Luck and Happy Caching!
