Geocache Description:

LAUGHARNE COUNTRYSIDE ADVENTURE [6]

-Writer's Block

A small clip-box container with room for some trinkets placed in the magical countryside of Laugharne

LAUGHARNE COUNTRYSIDE ADVENTURE DETAILS:

A 5KM trip through Laugharne countryside, starting at St. Martin's Church and followed by a steep climb through St. Martin's Wood.  At the peak of the woods you will trek through some gorgeous scenic countryside (take a camera!) around the back of Laugharne town, and then you will descend towards the estuary.  After this you will journey through some peaceful woodland hugging the estuary border, and you will emerge at the Dylan Thomas writing shed with some very scenic views.  Finally you will visit the estuary itself at Laugharne waterfront, and then you will take the final leg through Laugharne town, past the famous Browns Hotel, and back to where you started.

Please note that you will require stout footwear to complete the entire series. It involves some very steep climbs and can be wet/slippery underfoot. It is suitable for older children, but little ones would struggle. Also note that the countryside leg of the walk can be a little bit challenging, especially if there is a wet summer. The trek makes use of public footpaths, but the brambles and foliage are very enthusiastic! I complete this walk myself every now and then, and I try to keep it clear. But be prepared to potentially do some clearing of your own!

Hint: FANTASTIC blackberry picking, in season.

Writer's Block

This cache is a small clip-box container with room for trinkets.  It has been placed in the hollow of a tree near some old ruins.  The ruins may be of interest to you; just be careful if you decide to explore because there are loose rocks in the area of the ruins.  It is not necessary to enter the ruins in order to retrieve this cache.

This area is known to have been frequented by Dylan Thomas, the famous Welsh poet, when he was searching for inspiration.  His famous 'writing shed' is not far from here, and if you are doing the entire series - in the order that was intended - you will pass it before you reach the next cache.

Note that there is another cache between this one and the next called "Taf Treasure", placed by The-Robertsons.  Check it out!

CONGRATULATIONS to PlasmaWave on being the first to find on the very day that the series was published. The caches were retrieved by PlasmaWave in extremely difficult weather conditions! We're having a soggy summer.
