Geocache Description:

Historical Place · History Museum · Elementary School This cache is in view of the Howard One Room School House (1881 to 1916). There is some room to pull off on the north side of the road. Keep an eye on your children as cars go by very fast.

This cache is a plastic strawberry jam container wrapped in duct tape. It contains SWAG and has room for Travel Bugs and Geocoins. No need to over tighten the top as it can be hard to open or close.

Congrats to BrightSideTeam for the First To Find.

From 1881 to 1916, Howard School has been a part of Indiana history. After closing in 1916, the school and community center fell to almost total destruction while storing grain and farm equipment. Since 2004, a group of dedicated citizens restored it to its original purpose that now celebrates Boone County's past. The schoolhouse is a living history museum for use by children and adults alike to experience what school was like in 1881. After restoration was finished in 2012, Howard One-Room School is now a place for children and adults to connect with Boone County's heritage.
