This is a memorial for my brother, Lt. Ralf Garcia, who passed away at the age of 28 due to a malignant brain tumor. Ralf had planned on visiting Colorado to ski and hike this year, but unfortunately life's happenings prevented him from ever getting a chance to do so. This tribute to him is hidden near the summit of Mt. Elbert.
Hike the standard Mt. Elbert trail (northeast ridge). Near the summit, before a North Elbert Trail sign, walk diagonally to the right to a noticeable pile of rocks. The geocache is located next to the concentration of large rocks. There is a weatherproof ammo can containing the contents of the memorial. The ammo can is secured by a rope tied to a large rock, and it is covered by several smaller rocks. You can identify the area by looking for a piece of black rope that leads to a rockpile (covering the ammo can).
