Last year, Groundspeak offered the Seven Souvenirs of August - one of which required attendance at a geocaching event. For all those local (and not-so-local) geocachers that had procrastinated until the last moment, we held a beach bonfire event on the last possible day to claim the souvenir, which being Labor Day weekend, ended up being very well attended.
With this year's souvenir promotion, Geocaching Road Trip '15, once again geocachers need to attend a summer event to obtain a souvenir, though the end date this year is September 2 which falls on a Wednesday. Continuing our tradition, then, we will once again have a beach bonfire on the evening of the last day to claim the souvenir. Whether or not you have already earned the 'Meet Your Road Trip Crew' souvenir (there was a Monterey event earlier in the summer, but not all of the locals were in town for that one), you are welcome to join us for food and fun at a sunset bonfire on the beach between 6:30 and 8PM. Some may stay later, but with a three month old geocacher accompanying us, Samm99 and I don't plan to stay too late. Hot dogs and buns will be provided. (Vegetarians, and others with dietary restrictions, should bring their own food.)
