In my journeys, I discovered College City, which is located in the southeast corner of Colusa County.
Three things struck me about College City. First, there is no college in College City. QUICK HISTORY LESSON: in 1876, Andrew Pierce located Pierce Christian College to this area, but closed it facilities in 1896.
The second thing that surprised me about College City is that it's not an incorporated city. It's a Census Designated Place. It has a post office, and the government counts its residents as if it were a city, but there's no city government. The county is in charge.
The third thing that struck me about College City? NO GEOCACHES!!! That is, until now. This small community will finally get to experience all that comes with having a geocache: out-of-towners, suspicious folks, people carrying what looks like a phone from 2004.
It's nothing special. I will say this: 2 of the only businesses in town are across the street, and I didn't tell them about this cache. So use stealth.
