This cache is to continue the little but growing series of caches for fire stations, which started on the 7th Dec 2014.
Starlite came up with an idea of a series to do with Fire Stations, though I'm not sure if this is because she admires the great work the fire services do, because she likes driving fire engines (The background is actually her driving one!) or if it is because she likes blowing kisses at every fire station & fire engine that she sees!!
Coalville fire station is part of Leicestershire FRS. The station underwent £2.5m work, which involved the complete demolition and rebuilding of the existing fire and rescue station to make the new building more modern and energy efficient. It incorporates accommodation for a day crew and shift working pattern, with the installation of sleeping quarters which has been designed to provide the most up-to-date facilities and enable fire fighters to do their jobs in more comfortable working conditions. Coalville’s fire crew operated from temporary accommodation in Atlas Road, less than a mile from the site, while the new development was being built.
It was reopened on the 1st October 2014 by councillor Stephen Corrall who was at the time, the chair of the combined Fire Authority. The station has a call sign of S25 and has a rescue pump, water ladder, an Environmental Protection Unit and a general purpose vehicle.
Parking around the area is strict, so park wisely and please do not block driveways or any emergency vehicles.
If you wish to add to this series, please feel free to contact ourselves through this link
