Geocache Description:

Cache is a small screwtop container hidden in a rocky outcrop around the edge of Queererrup Lake. Bring mosquito repellant and don't be stingy with it... the mozzies here are the size of small bats!

Located northwest of Woodanilling, on Queerearrup Road along Douglas Road, Queerearrup lake is a very large salt lake that holds significant historical value to Woodanilling. With a fresh water spring near by; early pioneers chose to settle in this area, contributing to the rich farming legacy Woodanilliing has today.

In its former glory, the lake was a popular recreactional location for water skiing, swimming and picnics. Due to falling water levels (like many other lakes in the wheatbelt and Great Southern) the lake is no longer used for skiing or swimming, but is still a nice place for a picnic and to peacefully watch native flora and fauna.

The origin of the name comes from the Aboriginal work 'Queer' meaning brush wallaby. To the north of the lake is a spring of the same name and on the north west bank of the lake is Queerearrup Rock.
