Access
The cache is most easily reached by parking in Kilmashogue carpark (marked in the waypoint section) and following the path to the left up to the ground zone. Alternatively you can use public transport by taking Dublin Bus route 16 to Marley Park gate and following the marked Wicklow Way trail up through the park and to the cache – this will be about 2.5 kilometres.
The Cache
You can follow a well-marked path from the carpark most of the way, but near the ground zone you will have to leave the path and walk a short distance into the forest. You are looking for a small container wrapped in dark canvas material. Kilmashogue Forest is maintained by Coillte – please follow their ‘Leave no trace’ policy and be respectful of nature and wildlife while in the forest. GPS can be difficult to use while under the tree cover and I doubt the co-ordinates I took were spot on, so I have included a good hint and I may upload a spoiler photo if many people are finding it difficult. Bring your own pen, and tweezers will come in handy. Please leave everything exactly as you found it, and please keep an eye on your pets while near GZ – dogs may be particularly fond of this cache!
