Into The Woods is a musical written by Stephen Sondheim and based on several fairytales, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack in the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Rapunzel. In the musical, the plots and characters involved in these fairytales intertwine, allowing their motivations and desires to be explored fully. The show was first performed in San Diego in 1986. Since then it has been produced dozens of times in multiple countries and has received a large number of awards, including five Tony awards, for its dark, original take on much-loved fairytales. In 2014 a film adaptation was released starring many well-known actors and grossing over $200 million worldwide.
The Cache
The cache is a snaplock plastic box nestled in the middle of Kilmashogue Forest on one of the less-travelled trails, in keeping with the setting of the musical. While there is a path leading up towards the cache from the carpark marked in the waypoints, you will have to leave this path and step into the wilderness in order to retrieve it. GPS can be difficult to use here due to the tree cover so I have included a good hint. These woods are maintained by Coillte; please follow their ‘Leave no trace policy’ and be respectful of nature and wildlife while walking here. Please make sure that you replace the camoflague correctly and leave the cache exactly as you find it, and be careful; the cache owner takes no responsibility for accidents caused by wolves, witches or giants in these woods.
