Nanango's First Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

youngoldfella: Thank you to every one who came to this event. There were 58 team names in the attended log to which I added those who posted an attended but did not manage to append there name to the log. I counted between 120 and 130 people in attendance. There are still a few cachers to log their attendance. This, Nanango's First Event, will bea difficult to equal or beat next time around. Spring might be the right time of the year to hold the next one in the South Burnett ( Nanango).

Thank you once again for supporting Chris and I and geocaching in the South Burnett especially around Nanango.

Geocache Description:

This event is a friendly get together being organised for everyone but is aimed at all the new geocachers that have signed on recently who reside in the South Burnett. There are other activities in town on the same day. You might like to see the monthly start up of the old engine that used to power the former Butter factory and supply power to Nanango back in the early 1900's.  And you might like to come early and have a look at the showgrounds.

1100 on SATURDAY 5th December 2015

Nanango is within a two hour drive from many parts of South East Queensland. Toowoomba and Brisbane two examples. There are 20 hides within 2klm of town,   50 within 5klm,   86 within 10klm,  114 within 15klm.   and 287 within 50klm of Nanango. There is a free overnight camp site very close to town.  I will be hiding a few new ones closer to the date.

My thanks toPurple_Ninja 00 who has offered to assist with the setup.

The event will kick off at 1100 and is scheduled to conclude at 1400, on SATURDAY 5th December 2015.

There will be games available based on geocaching for young and the young at heart alike. There will be prizes, geocaching based of course.   A free sausage sizzle will be provided.  BYO drinks. We will provide  ice and water. You might like to bring a chair as there is seating for about 15 people.  Come and meet old and new geocaching friends and ask questions about finding and hiding geocaches as there will be  experienced geocachers present who are only to glad to share information and hints.  Please advise in your log number of Adults and Children please to assist with catering.  Feel free to bring your own food as a picnic or BBQ. There is a playground and a climbing wall very close to GZ and the BBQ and picnic shelter.

Entry to the park is down the laneway alongside the Nanango Aquatic Centre or from Drayton Street to the east of the Traffic Lights. This park is located in the former Nanango Railway Station Goods shed yards and the BBQ is being held very close to the old Railway Platform that still exists.

Looking forward to seeing you here in Nanango.
