GMOH (“Get Me Outta Here”) is a 19-cache series that picks up where the nearby 56-cache CSR (“Chignecto Ship Railway”) series ends.
Pre-placement Intel and mapping implied that the CSR was a straight 27-km shot into Amherst, and for 56 cache placements, it seemed to be true. However, the CSR rail bed/trail suddenly closed down, with a markedly deviating side trail. With no extraction point nearby, and not wanting to retrace ~ 15+ km of trail, we pushed on down the side trail, not sure where it would lead us. Armed with plenty of containers, we managed to drop 19 along the way before finally coming out on Fort Lawrence Road, about 4 km from where we thought the CSR would emerge.
Heat, fatigue, dwindling water and skeeters led to our mantra and the name of our series – “Get Me Outta Here”!
That said, it’s a nice hiking series – it’ll be wet in the spring and buggy in the spring and summer, but great in the fall and a nice snowshoe/snowmobile in the winter.
**The attributes pertain to the series as a whole. Containers should be winter-friendly baring heavy snowfall**
Good Luck and Cache Safely.
