Welcome to New Egypt Traditional Cache
OReviewer: Hello,
As there's been no response to the earlier note, I am forced to archive this listing. This will it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.
Thanks,

This geocache should escort you back to early twentieth century New Egypt. When this general store first became a bank. Let the building tell you it's history. Peak through the doors to the back of the front room to see the old open vault of the bank, and also take notice to the safe on the outside of the building for night deposits.
What is now the Welcome Center in town (that has the Greek revival façade), has had many titles in the past. It was originally a general store, the largest one in town. Thus, it was able to act as the town bank. However, as the business of the bank grew, the general store business slowed down. In 1906, the First National Bank of New Egypt was opened. The bank had a 29 year printing period and in that time it printed $109,300. During the printing time, the bank produced 4 different denominations of national currency. The bank printed 350 sheets of 10$ 1902 red seal national bank notes. Which are very rare because they were only printed between the years of 1902 and 1908. William McKinley is pictured on the bill and if the number under Mr. McKinley is a 1 then it is the first sheet of the already rare red seal bank notes, which is extremely rare. On each of the 350 sheets printed there were 3 $10 bills, and one $20 bills. The $20 bills don’t hold up as well as the $10 bills and are thus much rarer. The bank printed 1,836 sheets of 1902 blue seal national bank notes. When the bank closed, it then became a police station and court house until the municipal building opened. Now it serves its purpose as a Welcome Center, and the meeting location for many local non-profit organizations such as PYNE (Plumsted Youth for Nature and the Environment). The safe still remains in the building, however it now simply serves as a storage area.
