Geocache Description:

You are looking for a small camouflaged peanut butter container.  Hey, don't Downy Woodpeckers like peanuts?  I wonder if that's why there was one sitting on this tree waiting for us, when we showed up to place this cache.  Lots of Downy Woodpeckers around here, keep your eyes open.

A jewel of the Mountsberg Conservation Area, The Mountsberg Reservoir is a large water control reservoir and important natural waterway in the watershed. The reservoir was created by building a dam on Bronte Creek where it flows through the park on its way to the Lake Ontario. The wetlands, within the park and to the north of the reservoir are considered provincially significant, as they various habitats for uncommon birds, amphibians and reptiles.

Wetlands are critical to healthy creek systems. They retain flood waters, filter sediment and pollutants to improve water quality, and provide rich, diverse habitats for many species of flora and fauna, native and visiting. These wetlands and nearby fields are also a wonderful habitat for dragonflies that are an important part of the food web, controlling the spread of other insects, and in turn providing food for birds and other wildlife.
