Geocache Description:

This is a simple traditional cache in Meltonby and is based around an air crash back in 1949.

Meltonby is a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It’s situated approximately 2 miles north of Pocklington and together with the village of Yapham forms the civil parish of Yapham cum Meltonby.

In 1949 the Wellington aircraft from Middleton St. George co. Durham crashed in a grass field at Grange farm in the hamlet.

We have found an article from the Hull daily mail about this incident, if you are interested in reading the article and finding out more follow the link under 'Related web page' at the top of the cache page
