On this day August 19, 2015 three firefighters lost their lives while battling the deadly wildfires raging near Twisp, WA. Four other firefighters were injured with one sustaining serious burns. Thirteen firefighters have died nationwide this year, including the three. My heart breaks for all the firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice and my prayers go out to their families and friends.
While every summer here in the Pacific Northwest we have our fair share of wildfires, this year has been one of the worst fire seasons in the history of our state with literally hundreds of thousands of acres burning as well as hundreds of homes being lost. Firefighters from as far away as Australia and New Zealand have traveled here to help combat the flames. Thousands of brave firefighters are the only thing standing between the fire and everything else.
Many thanks go out to all those who have in the past, will today and in the future stand bravely on the front line and FACE THE FIRE!!! And for all of those who have fallen in the line of duty.. R.I.P.
