Dillwyn Drive Thru Traditional Cache

Dillwyn is another small town in KS.  By geocaching standards it would be a Nano town.  There are grain elevators, a feed yard, and 1 (yes 1) house.  This "town" was started in the late 1800s (probably early 1880s).  In 1910 it had a population of 30, but by 1927 it's post office closed.  The life of this micro was very short lived. The town is actually 1 mile to the north. Drive up there to check it out.

The rails are the real reason this town ever existed.  Like many of the towns in the area, when the rails shut down, so did the town.  Strangely, the rails here still run and are maintained pretty well.  Maybe that's the reason you can still find this bump on the road.  This cache is located near a small body of water. in this case, just a large depression. It was enough though to warrant a "bridge". Perhaps a lack of water is what helped keep this town from thriving. It certainly hasn't stopped the frog population. When this cache was placed there were around 100+ frogs living in this place. "Check cautiously" as you look for this cache as this near a highway that is frequented by Semis.
