4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in honour of our friend Lance.  The cache is in a nice little park in Corrimal, close to shops and parking.

The cache is placed in large red and black mechanical device in Tom Ward Park.  It is not obvious to me what the thingamijig precisely is, but it is a piece of mining equipment.  Tom Ward Rotary Park was officially opened by the late Tom Ward's wife Islay in 1984 after a ten year project by the Corrimal Rotary Club. The park on the corner of Tarrawanna Rd. and Underwood St. was established in honour of a former President, Tom Ward who died last year. Tom Ward was a former Deputy Lord Mayor on Wollongong City Council and Alderman on the North Illawarra Council prior to its amalgamation with Wollongong and a member of Corrimal Rotary Club for more than 14 years.

The cache is named for our friend Lance, who lives in the area and like to play here.
