Five Blind Geocachers Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mr.Science: Hi All,
I need to archive this geocache.

The elephant got toppled and destroyed in a violent thunderstorm and is no more. It was an awesome sculpture as those that made the trip to find it can tell you.

Geocache Description:

You are searching for a camouflaged bottle, log only.  If you want to search blindfolded, be my guest, although it’s not required.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, be gentle searching, so as not to damage ground zero!  Thank you.  The artist, Beth Schoonmaker, has graciously given permission to place this geocache here.

I’m stealing a page from El Fartero’s book, by using poetry!  I know he’ll delight in it.

Photos with your log are always appreciated!

Five Blind Geocachers

It was five geocachers
To searching much inclined,
Who went to find a geocache,
(Though all of them were blind.)
That one, by observation
Might be the First to Find.

The first approached Ground Zero (GZ),
And happening to fall,
Against a broad and sturdy side,
At once began to bawl,
“God bless me! But this geocache
Is hidden in a WALL!”

The next approached Ground Zero,
And in his searching throes,
Felt a tubular projection,
Which made him think, “Who knows?
Perhaps the cache container
Is stuffed up in this HOSE!”

The next reached out an eager hand,
Said, “I’m sure they’d all agree.
It’s rough.  It’s strong.  It’s sturdy.
I know where it must be!
Mr. Science placed a micro cache
Somewhere on this TREE!”

The fourth no sooner had begun
About the site to grope,
He seized upon a swinging cord,
That fell within his scope,
“I see,” quoth he, “This geocache
Lies somewhere on this ROPE!”

The final geocacher,
Sat on the ground and guessed.
Instead of feeling with his hands,
Used insight for this quest.
“Mr. Science favors magnets!            (well, NOT always!)
This one could be like the REST!”

And so these caching paramours
Disputed loud and long,
Each in his own opinion,
Exceedingly stiff and strong.
For each was partly in the right,
And all were in the wrong!

Thanks to John Godfrey Saxe for his original poem.

Special thanks to my sister, Sally Science Z., for making the cache description infinitely better than what I had written.

And special, special thanks to Beth Schoonmaker for her artistic masterpiece!
