Geocache Description:

After we have discovered that there is a second church of the same name here in Vodice, we decided to archive the old cache and honour both Sveti Križ churches by a new Multi Cache.

The "new" and well known Sveti Križ was built by Ivan Skok, a famous master of the Dalmatian Baroque. In 1725 Skok worked on a chapel of the main altar, which was later inserted in extension of the church, when the church got its harmonius facade, with a Baroque portal and a magnificent rosette, and side walls with oval Baroque windows. Above the main entrance, you can find a year in roman numerals at the very end of the text. Take this year as A. The older Sveti Križ, now located next to the largest hotel in Vodice, is a simple Gothic church, which was built in 1402. A valuable detail is the old Romanesque-Gothic holy-water font on the pillar, a unique specimen in this part of Dalmatia. Note: if the gate is closed, you can enter the church yard through the back entrance. Next to the church entrance you can find a monument. Take the higher of the two years of the text on the monument as B. The Final Location is at: N43° 45.(B-A)+43 E015° 46.(B-A)+119
