Nolweg: de doorgaande weg het dorp uit in oost-west richting. Naar het oosten kom je in Gorinchem, naar het westen kom je aan de Vliet, vanwaar je via de noord- of zuidkant het dorp kunt verlaten. Maar wat is een nol? Volgens het woordenboek: duin, zandheuvel, strandhoofd, Besteend rijshoofd. Oftewel: een verhoging in het landschap waarop de weg is aangelegd.
The Nolweg is the transiting road in East-West direction. To the east to Gorinchem, to the west to the Vliet (the water) from where you can exit the village in northerly or southerly direction. A “Nol” is a heightened area in the landscape.
