This area is upstream of Aberdeen Harbour although still within the area of land owned by Aberdeen Harbour Board, Britain's oldest business having been granted a royal charter in 1136. The River dee is very important to the running of the harbour although not without its problems as the levels of sediment brought down the river means the working areas of the harbour have to be dredged every year.
The cache is situated to afford views of both the downstream Torry Bridge and the upstream Queen Elizabeth and Suspension bridges. It is also close to the site of the proposed new pedestrian bridge across to Torry where a new landscaped area and a "Hotel Academy" are planned.
If you are lucky the boats of the rowing club on the south west bank will be out on the water practicing making for some good photo opportunities.
