sci_bugs: This is in a bad wet area. I was just there and dried it but soaked again. I am going to archive . I may try a different spot or container in the future.

Geocache Description:

This cache was set with a few other caches on Sugar Island. A friend of our family [Carolyn] showed me some sites and history/stories of the spots. The island has its own way of life and unique history. Our family has been going there for 40+ years and still learn new history stories. You are required to take your vehicle over by ferry so you will have a round trip fee. You pay leaving the mainland but not coming off the island

This is the site of the Holy Angels Catholic Church put up by Bishop Baraga 1856. If you are the type that likes to explore old cemeteries you can follow the path behind the church up to the old catholic cemetery. The day we showed up there were three priests in the church saying mass. Two had come down from British Columbia just to say a mass in this church. There was a priest there from the Soo who told me they say one mass a year with a picnic to  celebrate Bishop Baragas Birthday.{ the Sunday closest to the 29th of June]. The  priest said he would come over upon request to open the church for masses on special occasions but it is not normally open.
