This cache is on a road that used to be a regular alternate route if you were travelling from Matamata and places north to Rotorua. It bypasses the Fitzgerald Glade and the then tricky and sometimes dangerous intersection between SH5 and SH28. However when that intersection was upgraded and made safer, the authorities discouraged the use of the GZ road. The signs at either end of the GZ road indicate that there is no exit - this is incorrect. There is also a "road closed" sign at the southern end and a gate, which looks like it could close off the road. It is usually open. The name of the road comes from the locality, and the local marae also takes its name from that locality.
The cache should be easy to spot, especially in the winter. However getting to the cache and then retrieving the log may prove a bit trickier. Come prepared. There is one muggle neighbour, but the road itself is generally very quiet - park off to the side of the road and you should be fine. Please bring your own pen - there is only room for a log.
