Westhorpe is one of the 4 communities which make up Killamarsh in North East Derbyshire. There was a colliery in Westhorpe until 1984. Killamarsh was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Chinewoldemaresc which means “Cynewalds Marsh”.
The route for this series passes through fields containing horses. The fields can be very muddy and uneven.
This is a series of caches with a bonus cache at the end. It is a circular walk of just over 2 miles mainly on public footpaths in the Westhorpe area of Killamarsh. To find the bonus you will need to collect letters and numbers from the caches you visit. Letters are duplicated so you can find the bonus even if you do not find all of the caches.
This is the first cache of the series. There are no letters in this one.
Stealth is required as this can be a busy area. You will need something to write with and tweezers for this series. To go to the next cache, with your back to the seat turn right and then right again down the public footpath along Ross Court.
