PDoc and I were biking along the Greenbelt recently - we noticed an area with several monuments. We found them to be oddly diverse, but interesting, and we thought others might feel the same. So we decided to create a mystery cache.
Begin your quest by parking on City Island (see Parking Waypoint below) and walk or bike to the listed coordinates. Look around and you will notice several monuments. Five of these hold information which will bring you to the actual cache. You are solving for N40 15.ABC W076 52.DEF
Some of the monuments are more obvious than others, but they are all 2'x2' or larger.
1. Harrisburg Technical High School - How many trees were planted? The difference of the two digits is A.
2. AFL CIO Memorial - The monument was dedicated in what month? The numeric equivalent is B.
3. John Harris Memorial - What year was the tablet erected? Add the first and last digits to get C.
4. John Harris Memorial - What year did the first settler build his home? The second digit is D.
5. Veterans of the Vietnam War - What is the time span on the memorial? The difference between the middle digits of the first date is E.
6. Harris Ferry Crossing - The Ferry-right was first granted to John Harris in what year? The difference between the first and last digits is F.
At the final location you will find the prize.
***Please do not post pictures of the memorials that show needed info for answers. Your log will be deleted.***
As always - use common sense - DO park on City Island and DON'T try this at night. Remember you are in a city where all sorts of people dwell. Be safe.
Finally - partial images of all the monuments are in the Cache's gallery....
